Can rectifier diodes replace ordinary diodes

Many friends have asked me, can rectifier diodes replace ordinary diodes in weak current circuits?

We all know that rectifier diodes have low operating frequencies and require voltage and current specifications.

There are many types of ordinary diodes, some can be used as rectifiers, some can be used as detectors, limiters, switches, etc., but not all can be used as rectifiers. However, as long as the rectification requirements are met in terms of voltage and current, general diodes can be used as rectifiers; However, rectifier diodes may not be capable of performing tasks such as detection and switching.
